Built differently since 2014
Cara Lackey (CEO) and Brad Lackey (Creative Direction) founded Motion Giraffx in Houston in 2014 to build the studio they wished existed. A small team of animators, designers, and producers handling every project end to end. No account-manager layers. No design by committee. No padding.
Twelve years later, we still love the work. Whether you're a scrappy startup or a billion-dollar brand, we treat every project with the same intensity and care.

Animation is the medium. Story is the job. Whether you sell a complex industrial product, a SaaS platform, or a piece of legislation, the work is the same: find the through-line, build the visual, and make your audience care.
That is why every project starts with a writing pass before a single frame moves.
Perfect deadline record
We have never missed a deadline. Every brief, every revision, every final cut, on schedule.
But on-time is the floor, not the ceiling. We're equally committed to quality and integrity in every frame we ship. We hit dates because the team is small enough to stay accountable and selective enough to only take work we can deliver. (2D pieces in 3 to 6 weeks, 3D in 4 to 8, video in 2 to 4.)
Direct line, no middle layer
When you call, you get the producer. When the producer needs a 3D shot reframed, she walks across a Slack channel to the animator. No account executives, no creative directors translating your notes for someone else.
The result: fewer rounds, faster fixes, less of your time spent re-explaining what you already explained.

Why we move quickly
Speed is not the same as cutting corners. We move quickly because the team is small, the workflow is clean, and there is no internal approval layer to satisfy. More of your schedule lands in production. Less of it lands in approval politics.

Motion Giraffx was founded in 2014 by Cara and Brad Lackey in Houston, Texas. We have stayed intentionally small, intentionally selective, and intentionally hands on ever since.
Our work has been recognized across several industry competitions. Most notably, our SLB Sonic Far Field industrial 3D animation took home a 2020 Lantern Award in the B3 Animation 2D or 3D / motion graphics category.
We have also earned wins at the Telly Awards, the American Advertising Awards (ADDY), and the AVA Digital Awards across multiple years for animation craft, motion graphics, and brand storytelling.
Cara Lackey (CEO) and Brad Lackey (Creative Direction) own and operate the studio. They lead a small distributed team of motion designers, 3D animators, and video producers who handle every project end to end. We hire selectively, see open roles if you are an animator or producer wondering whether we are a fit.
Small by design. Every client works directly with the producers and artists doing the animation. No sales reps, no account executives, no telephone game between brief and final cut. It is the reason we move quickly and the reason nothing gets lost in handoff.
Three things. First, every project is custom-built from scratch, no subscription tools, no stock libraries, no AI-generated frames. Second, you talk directly to the producers and artists making your video, not a sales layer. Third, we are selective about who we work with so we can stay deeply invested in every engagement, from oil and gas industrial animation to corporate brand video.
No. Every animation, motion graphic, and 3D render we deliver is built from scratch by our artists for your specific brand and audience. We use professional industry tools (Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini, etc.) but the creative work, scene composition, character design, and motion are all human-crafted from first principles.
