Project Description

Molecular science is complicated, duh.  Selling products to molecular scientists in the biopharmaceutical industry to improve their mass spectrometry data to cure cancer is… even more complicated. Don’t worry, here’s a 2D animation to help explain these nifty machines so that regular people (like investors and people in the purchasing department) can make sense of it.

This motion graphic example is great for:

       (A) Explaining a complicated scientific machine at a high-level

       (B) Creating appealing video content that’s not a chart or whitepaper

       (C) Selling a really expensive, high-tech, new scientific product to a target audience who is notoriously hard to convince to change their ways.

Reasons to choose 2D animation

This story was very deliberately and strategically told via 2D animation. Live action video can’t capture molecules moving at super speed inside of a machine, and 3D animation would have revealed too much of the machine’s internal IP and unnecessarily complicated the story.

2D animation and motion graphics is a medium that allows us to tell high-level stories and concepts of how a machine works without needing to go in the the super technical nitty gritty, and that’s exactly what we did in this motion graphic example.
